PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS OF THE DRAFT BASIC ASSESSMENT PROCESS FOR THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF A MEGA HALL CENTRE AND SPORTS FIELDS ON A PORTION OF PORTION 22 OF FARM 727, WAARBURGH ROAD, JOOSTENBERGVLAKTE, CITY OF CAPE TOWN REGISTRATION DIVISION, WESTERN CAPE

Notice is hereby given in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998), as amended (NEMA) (as amended), and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (as amended) and the National Water Act, 1998 (Act No. 36 of 1998), as amended (NWA), of an of an Application for Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the proposed development of a mega hall centre and sports fields on a portion of Portion 22 of Farm 727, Waarburgh Road, Joostenbergvlakte, City of Cape Town (hereafter referred to as ‘the development site’).

This notice also serves to inform the public that a Draft Basic Assessment Report (BAR) and Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) are available for a 30-day review and comment period from 7 February 2024 – 9 March 2024.

NOTE: The development constitutes activities that require the Applicant's Existing Lawful Water Use be amended due to the proposed increase in the volume of wastewater the Applicant intends to irrigate with on the premises. An amendment of the existing NWA Section 21(g) and (e) water uses is underway by the appointed consultant, Umvoto (Pty) Ltd. The WUA will be made available for a 60-day comment period, i.e., from 7 February 2024 to 10 April 2024, on request from Legacy EMC.
