GRANTING AND ISSUANCE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATIONS FOR THE APPLICATION IN TERMS OF THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 107 OF 1998) (“NEMA”) AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (“EIA”) REGULATIONS, 2014 (AS AMENDED) FOR THE PROPOSED ELAND SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE ON THE REMAINDER OF PORTION 101 (a portion of Portion 12) OF FARM GELUK NO. 348 AND PORTION 1 OF FARM DE KROON NO. 363, NEAR eNTOKOZWENI, EMAKHAZENI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, NKANGALA DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, MPUMALANGA.

On behalf of the Holder of the Environmental Authorisation (EA), JUWI Renewable Energies (Pty) Ltd., this notice serves to inform the public of the granting of two EA’s issued by the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DFFE) on 28 January 2025 for the Eland Solar Photovoltaic Plant (SPP) with associated infrastructure, situated within the Emakhazeni Local Municipality.

Please note that a section detailing the ‘Reasons for Decision’ regarding the authorisations granted by the competent authority, DFFE, is included under Annexure 1 of the two EA’s.

Note: Your attention is also drawn to the fact that an appeal may be lodged against the decision in terms of the National Appeal Regulations, 2014 (as amended). The appeal procedure is outlined in Sections 10 and 11 within both of the EA’s issued and must be lodged within 20 (twenty) calendar days from the date on which the Holder of the EA sent notification to Registered I&APs – i.e., 20 days from 10 February 2025.
