SCOPING AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS FOR THE PROPOSED CARLETONVILLE SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE ON THE REMAINDER OF FARM TWYFELVLAKTE NO. 105, MERAFONG CITY LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, WEST RAND DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG.

On behalf of the Applicant, JUWI Renewable Energies (Pty) Ltd, notice is given in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998), as amended (NEMA), the 2014 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, as amended, as well as the National Water Act, 1998 (Act No. 36 of 1998), as amended (NWA), of the submission of the Final Scoping Report (FSR) and associated documents for an application for Environmental Authorisation for the proposed proposed Solar Photovoltaic Plant (SPP) with associated infrastructure, situated within the Merafong City Local Municipality, West Rand District Municipality, Gauteng.

The FSR, including a Plan of Study for EIA, and which reflects the incorporation of the comments received on the Draft Scoping Report, has been submitted to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). The DFFE will consider the FSR and must, within 43 days of receipt of the FSR either (i) accept the report and advise the applicant to proceed with the tasks as per the Plan of Study for EIA; or (ii) refuse EA.
