GRANTING AND ISSUANCE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION FOR THE APPLICATION IN TERMS OF THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 107 OF 1998) (“NEMA”), AS AMENDED, AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (“EIA”) REGULATIONS OF 2014, AS AMENDED, FOR THE PROPOSED CARLETONVILLE SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE ON THE REMAINDER OF FARM TWYFELVLAKTE NO. 105, MERAFONG CITY LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, WEST RAND DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG.

On behalf of the Holder of the Environmental Authorisation (EA), JUWI Renewable Energies (Pty) Ltd., this notice serves to inform the public of the granting of the EA issued by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the  Environment (DFFE) on 05 February 2025 for  the proposed Carletonville Solar Photovoltaic Plant (SPP) with associated infrastructure, situated within the Merafong City Local Municipality.

Please note that a section detailing the ‘Reasons for Decision’ regarding the authorisation granted by the competent authority, DFFE, is included under Annexure 1 of the EA.

Note: Your attention is also drawn to the fact that an appeal may be lodged against the decision in terms of the National Appeal Regulations of 2014, as amended. The appeal procedure is outlined in Sections 10 and 11 within the EA issued and must be lodged within 20 (twenty) calendar days from the date on which the Holder of the EA sent notification to Registered I&APs – i.e., 20 days from 18 February 2025.
